Air Intake Muffler

Anyone know if the iA has an intake muffler and if it can be removed? Just seeing if I can get a bit more volume out of the engine before chopping off the muffler.

I believe resonator is what I'm looking for. Anything that muffles the sound.

I know some people will suggest I install a CAI or RAI but I firmly believe these are simply placebo mods.

I wouldn't really be against installing a new filter, but that's extra money for literally no positive effect other than maybe some extra room in the engine bay, but hardly worth it.

True

From what I understand the cone filters are like 98% as effective.

Either way. Not going to do it.

I don't think there are any resonators in it. Just a pipe to the box and that's pretty much it.

The AEM Intake that is made for the iA has a definite HP gain, though small. I wanted more sound from my engine (especially for shifting), and this helped with it. I feel more torque slightly.
I know opinions aren't fact and everyone tends to base claims off their imagination (placebo as you say)
So here's a helpful fact:

Prior to AEM Intake. Cruise control set to 59 MPH, in 6th gear.
I would drop 3-5 MPH on light grade uphill every day to work.

After the intake, no change in speed, no need to downshift.
Thats a fact.

So, while I may feel a little more kick, and definitely needed the audible engine...
this has been where I have seen the small HP increase.
Now, is that worth the money? For me yes, but others.... may not.
