Engine noise

I noticed that my new 2017 Yaris IA with 2000 miles on it has a very noisy engine, lots of what sounds like valves ticking? My 2012 Tacoma with 174,000 miles has almost no noise when compared to the Yaris? Anyone else have this? I'm going to bring it to my dealers attention.

The ticking noise could be from the direct injection. Injectors make a ticking sound due to the high fuel pressure. I noticed on my 2011 VW GTI and on now on my Scion iA. Normal.

Hopefully that's the noise, as it runs great. Thanks for the information.

I have a 2017 as well. The "tapping" noise started when I took it to the dealer for the first preventive maintenance. When I checked the oil, I noticed that they overfilled it (it can damage the engine) and I also noticed that alternator by where the belts are stops and when I hear the noise, it starts running again. I called the dealer and they are sending a tow truck to take it to the dealer. Do not drive the car and take immediate action.

Good luck to you and keep me posted.
