Manual 6-speed owner here, assuming you're in the same boat (car). The first time you take it off it's usually crazy tight. Just gotta really put the beans to it, might take two hands. Lefty loosey.
When I put mine back on (after playing with it for a bit) I left it a turn or two looser than it was so I wouldn't have to use white-knuckled fury to get it back off next time.
