Hello team,

I just installed an aftermarket shift knob for my 6 speed manual. I don't know if the automatic knob is the same but the manual transmission knob is threaded and uses a M10 x 1.25 pattern (same as all other manual Mazdas and many other Japanese vehicles).

I bought a threaded 2" chrome ball knob for $14 on eBay, but there are a ton of other options on eBay/amazon at other price ranges.

All you do is unscrew the original knob counterclockwise and that's it! You can also get an adapter so you can make the knob and the boot meet, but it looks clean even without that adapter.

I still have the original one. I changed it to the metal one because of the weighted feel and because it's easier to grip when shifting.

And no, this car is not track worthy lol, with 103 pounds of torque and high center of gravity there's not much damage you can do with it at a track haha. It's actually my daily driver and my Uber car. It takes a pretty good beating everyday.

I have a 2017 Camaro SS for track use. ;)
