Hey all,

I've recently been having issues with my alternator. After reading some other threads and replacing the battery, I'm still only seeing a 12V reading coming from the alternator. I don't see a lot of info on how exactly to remove the alternator. The belt tensioner is unlike any I've ever worked on and just figured I'd ask if anyone knew if it was difficult or if there are any tips/tricks to doing the job.

Check a Mazda3 or CX-3 forum. Our cars are so similar, the issues with the alternator should be the same.

Great minds think alike! I ended up finding a video on a Mazda 2 earlier today. Turns out I was massively overthinking things in the end. 😅

My Mom's 1988 Pontiac Bonneville needed a battery so I replaced it. I got home in the dark of the garage and saw the Alt light just barely glowing so I replaced the alt also. Even my Mom said her car ran faster now. Battery- replace as needed (use a float charger if you can!) Sam's sells Duracell at $130, AGM at $189, and Optima is your choice and wallet. Jay Leno does. LOL
