Hello All,

Bought my new iA on Thursday last week. I had been driving an old car that was new 13 years ago so all this electronic stuff is a bit frustrating for an old guy.

I have an older Samsung Phone model "Alias 2" It is about 8 years old but does have bluetooth. I am not interested in data plans so this phone works well for me at the moment and I have not even changed the battery to date.

I have paired the phone sucessfully with the Toyota/Scion Display. The problem I have is when I use the voice recognition or manual entry to call a number it stops. I can push all the way thru the voice command "Do you want to call Joe" , I say Yes, the display swithes and the number shows up but nothing happens. There is a message on the display that says "Call from Handset" If I try to go back to FM radio, there is no sound at all, almost like it is trying to call and getting hung up? Is it my phone? If I tuen off the ACC and back on the FM works again.

I have read that not all Bluetooth phones are compatible but since Scion's website went down last week when they packed up, I cannot find out.

I really have no idea. Could be an operating system incompatibility issue with the iA. Does your phone go through system updates?

Actually, I have no idea about going through updates. I originally thought it would work since it was paired so easily... Oh well I suppose its not the end of the world. Thks, TD

You can give this a try to see if your phone is compatible. It doesn't have the iA but the iM operating system should be the same.

I had noticed this in the iA manual but without the website up how does one check? If anyone can check my phone is a Samsung Alias2 model U750 :x

Yup, Not sure if it is all that important to purchase a new phone and Service contract just to have this available, Yes its nice. But as you say the rest of the voice recognition works well so thats a plus.

One of the big reasons for this car was inexpensive, High Value.. A new phone, but moreover a data contract changes things a lot. A few years back I would not recognize this expense, today I do. I pay $29.00 a month for unlimited minutes/text with taxes, not sure if any data plan can compare, if anyone knows of one, please chime in.(-:

Its a shame though that neither Verizon, Nor Scion have tested any non data phones to date... Why would they:laugh:
