Hello everyone. Has anyone installed a done light into their vehicle? It seems as if the headliner will pop down easily enough. I need to check on the wiring though it should be easy enough. Attached is a picture of a European Mazda 2 with the LEDs that are available. I'm wondering if anyone has installed anything and actually removed the headliner to see if it is marked where the light should go. Thank you everyone!

Hi Suaz...
i actually have taken down the front light a couple of times now ... the last time was to hook in some footwell lighting...
From what i saw though, the headliner has a gap between the roof panel and the headliner itself so I was going to take my endoscope and see if this is correct ... I also want to do something like your picture (and take the easy way out, just hook directly to the front lights like i did with my footwell).
I've looked online and CANNOT find those rear dome lights so if you know a link, that'd be awesome. I'll have a look and confirm IF you can run the line directly from the front lights, that'd be the easiest path to the rear.

That would be great information to have when you are done probing. I have a feeling the headliner will be marked for a cutout. I agree that running it to the snap lights would be the best for door/on/off. I have reached out to Mazda regarding the part number for the light. The picture is from a European market cx3 comma because they are they sell an LED replacement kit for the 2 front map lights and the dome light. I will keep you posted with anything I find, thank you for your help!

THanks for this Suaz... definitely worth looking to do...

OK so i've made my way up through the front dome cavity...
Right behind is padding/sound proofing material that makes access rearwards pretty difficult, so no easy direct line back...
There are plastic spacers running down both sides of the car but running anything down those won't help much (and there is already a wire bundle going down the drivers side) ...
Looks like a pull down of the actual headliner is in order if you're going to push on with this... i note the pop rivet in the centre and to the sides that i guess is to ease it but until I find out how actually hard it is to remove and place the whole headliner back on, i think i'm going to shelve this rear light for now ! :(
Let us know if you proceed :) (or if i decide to tackle it, i'll make sure to post..)
best of luck !

Blah... i found a guide on a mazda3 on how they remove their headliners... we're talking A/B/C pillar trims all off and then some so i'm going to pass on this and revisit if i'm seriously bored :)

First off Thank You for investigating this for all of us! I will have to take your side and shelve this project for now, I don't need Murphy coming to bother me anymore! What I am planning on doing is ordering the Mazda LED interior enhancement package (two front lights and dome light) from the UK for the Mazda 2. I'm also trying to purchase the hood insulator and attachment rivets from the UK to add on to this vehicle. I think the LEDs will help out with brightness in the cabin and I will call it good at that. The headliner looks daunting, especially having to pull all the pillars off. Thank you again for your insight!

I called the dealership that has ordered the spoiler for me and was told that the dome light isn't showing as an available part yet. Matt, the parts specialist isn't thinking that the vehicle even has the wiring for the rear dome light either.
