I have been a Prius driver for the last 8 years or so. I commute many miles each day so a hybrid was almost a necessity. Well I came upon a forum that was talking about people getting great mpg on the Scion IA. I pulled the trigger today on a brand new, full factory warranty, 2016 Scion IA with 74 miles on it. $10,900 in California. Good deal? It was a little scary going with something that wasn't a hybrid. I'm hoping I get close to 40 MPG and I think I will be happy.

I'd say you got one of the best deals out of all iA owners. I paid $15,500 before taxes on my 16 iA with 0 miles. I'm jealous.

Well that makes me feel better about my purchase. I'm also liking that the first tank is showing 42 mpg average and that is with some wet weather and stop and go driving. I hope the real world results at fill up will equal the cars computer. If there is anyone in northern California, the dealer has another 2016 Scion iA with 774 miles and will probably do a similar deal or better.

It is growing on me. They could make the car a ton better by adding just a few small features that are probably already incorporated into the technology. Touch handle unlock would be great. Prius got me spoiled with never pulling my key out of my pocket. May not seem like a big deal, but once you don't have to do it, it is a pain to always reach into your pocket to unlock the doors. I also don't want to ever have to worry about locking my keys in the car. Looks like the Scion iA will auto unlock if the car is running, but not when off. Also looking for a good armrest with storage. I might have to make one myself.

I am liking the first tank 41.7 mpg though. Only one trip with a bit of traffic and rain though. I'm curious to see what this tank will be like with everyone back from vacation and the CA roads packed.

Had the car 6 months now and it is pretty nice for what it is. I'm getting 38 - 40 mpg with normal driving, including some bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic, and even with the AC on. I notice that the AC compressor clicks on and off quite a bit when using it.. is that normal? I'm assuming it doesn't stay on all the time to save gas? It is pretty much on , off, on ,off though..

If I really watch my foot on the gas pedal I can get up to 42 or better with highway driving. The car doesn't have a lot of power and sometimes seems to just not want to go unless you really step on the gas.

Figured out it does have auto-unlock and won't allow the keys to get locked in the car, so that is great. Still really missing the touch auto unlock. Still hate reaching into my pocket for my keys, especially when my hands are full.

Got used to not having an armrest, but it is one of the first things passengers notice when they are riding with me. Still looking into an aftermarket one. I'm hoping someone will make one that pops right into the back coin cup area to avoid any drilling or screws.

Hybrids are overrated.. the passat tdi gets close 52mpg and you have all that space. Plus the hybrids batteries are $3000 anyways and hybrids are worse for the environment because of the energy used to make them end of rant. lol and yess you got the best deal I paid 12 something out the door for mine new. Of course mine is manual and I guess people can't drive standards anymore.
