I have a radar detector with a mirror mount and hardwire kit, which needs a 12 volt power supply within 8" of the mirror, preferably one that's on while the car is running and off while the car is off.

That's gonna be a tough one.. I know people used to wire them to the 12V power socket (cigarette lighter) back then

The lasers behind the mirror for the front collision detection system have to be powered by something...

But doesn't that only get power under 18 mph being that that's when the lasers are used?
