I was wondering how long will my 2018 ia run at idle if I get out of it with the keys and walk away? Can I lock the door with the remote as I leave the vehicle? I'm taking my Chihuahua on the trip and wonder if I leave the air conditioning on and leave him in there as I go to the restroom will the car still be running????

I pickup my mail everyday at my mailbox which is about 100 feet away from where I leave the car idling with the A/C on and the car stays running no problem. The only thing I've never tried is to lock it while I leave it idling (I live in a gated/very safe neighborhood).

FYI: I don't know if it makes a difference, but my vehicle is a 6 speed manual, so I don't know if the automatic transmission would turn off if you leave it idling on park.
